   Population distribution
   Number of population existed in the country in 1 / 1 /2009 is
   19880000, out of which 10162000 are male and 9718000 are
    female according to CBS estimates. At the time that the number
    of population recorded 23027000, out of which 10408000 male
     and 9959000 female according to Civil Affairs records.

   Foreign trade indicators
     The trade exchange value ( exports+ imports) amounted to
     1547217 millions Syrian Pounds in 2008, so that the exports
     value was 707798 millions Syrian Pounds , 50.82 % out of
     which were exports to Arab countries. Imports value was
     839419 millions Syrian Pounds, 15.49% out of which were
        from Arab countries.

   Estimative expenses
    The value of estimative expenses of the unified budget is 600
     milliards Syrian Pounds in 2008, and is divided into:
      - usual expenses 370 milliards; which is 62 % out of the total.
      - development expenses 230 milliards; their proportion out of
        the total is 38%

     It has been noticed that the number of Arab arrivals in Syria
    has decreased since the number was 4731911 in 2007 while it
     recorded 4475777 in 2008 , contrary to the foreign arrivals
    since their number recorded 1272150 in 2007 and increased to
    1516337 in 2008.

   Hospitals and sanatoriums sector
     According to the statistical data of 2008, number of private
     hospitals was 365 and in the government hospitals number
     was 117. Contrary to the beds number was 21849 in the
     government hospitals and in private hospitals since it was 8361.

   Students & graduates of postgraduate
     Number of students of postgraduate education was 12330
      in 2008 , distributed to:
      2944 diploma , 8663 master , and 723 doctorate.
     The number of graduates in 2008 was 2648, distributed to:
      1374 diploma , 1148 master , and 126 doctorate. more >>

   Indices and inflation in Syria
    Inflation rate recorded 4.50 in 2007 and amounted to 15.15 in
    2008, then it retreated to 2.80 in 2009 with regard to the fact
    that (2005= 100).

     The total number of transportation means reached 1537206 in
     2008, 551858 out of which are tourist cars distributed to:
       95827 public, 436363 private, and 19668 government.
